Private Coaching
Built Around Your Body
Looking for private Pilates Grand Rapids clients can use for real coaching, better form, and a more focused path forward? GRIT Pilates & Yoga offers individualized support for people who want more than a spot in a group class. Private coaching gives you space to ask questions, work at your own pace, and build strength with a coach watching how you actually move.
If you are new to reformer work, start with our new client path to compare your best first step. GRIT recommends private foundations when possible so new clients can learn the machine, routine, cueing, and class flow before moving into group classes.

Personal Training and Private Reformer Work
One Coach, One Plan
Private reformer training is offered through personal training and private coaching appointments and can include reformer work alongside other individualized training.
Your session may include reformer work, bodyweight movement, kettlebells, strength drills, mobility, boxing pad work, weight training, and coaching cues that help you understand what you should feel and why. This is not soft, generic stretching. GRIT is a strength-first studio, so private coaching is built to help you work with intention.
Good for Beginners and Experienced Clients
Beginners often use private sessions to learn the reformer, understand spring changes, and feel more comfortable before taking Signature GRIT, Dynamic Reformer, Silver and Fit, Jumpboard, Kettlebell Reformer, or athlete-focused sessions. Experienced clients may use private coaching to clean up form, push specific goals, or get deeper correction than a group setting allows.
Personal Training With GRIT
GRIT also offers personal training Grand Rapids clients can use when their goals extend beyond the reformer. This may include functional movement, strength and conditioning, kettlebell-inspired work, mobility, boxing pad work, weightlifting, and coaching that connects to daily life, sport, or long-term fitness.
Personal training is especially useful when you want a coach to help you connect the dots between how you move, where you feel limited, and what needs to get stronger. GRIT’s approach is direct, practical, and coach-led. You do the work, but you do it with feedback.
If nutrition and recovery are part of your bigger goal, you can pair training with nutrition and wellness coaching. Nutrition and supplement guidance stays within fitness and wellness education and is not a replacement for medical care.

Duet, Family, and Private Group Options
Duet Pilates Grand Rapids Sessions
Duet Pilates Grand Rapids sessions are built for you plus one. Bring a spouse, partner, friend, teammate, or accountability buddy. You still get private coaching attention, but you share the session with someone who wants to improve with you.
Duets work best when both people are comfortable training in the same session format. If your goals or experience levels are very different, the GRIT team can help you decide whether a duet or separate one-on-one Pilates session makes more sense.
Family Pilates Session and Small Groups
A family Pilates session can give your crew a private way to move together. GRIT also offers private group sessions, private team sessions, and VIP private parties for friends, co-workers, families, students, teams, weddings, birthdays, holidays, and other groups.
Private groups and VIP private parties can include up to 10 people. The person booking the session can bring the group they want, whether that is family, friends, teammates, co-workers, or visiting guests.
What to Expect in a Private Session
Your first private session is usually about learning how you move, what you want, and where coaching can help most. Expect direct cues, attention to setup and alignment, and a session that meets you where you are without watering down the work.
FAQs About Private Coaching
What happens in a private reformer session?
You work directly with a GRIT coach on reformer setup, movement quality, strength, breath, control, and your personal goals. The session is built around your needs instead of a full group class plan.
Can I book a duet with a friend or partner?
Yes. GRIT offers duet private sessions for you plus one. A duet is a good fit when both people want coaching together and can train in the same session format.
Are private sessions good for beginners?
Yes. Private sessions are GRIT’s preferred starting point when possible because beginners can learn the reformer, build confidence, and understand the foundations before joining group classes.
Can private coaching help with form and confidence?
Yes. Private coaching gives you more feedback than a group class. Your coach can slow things down, correct setup, and help you understand how each movement should feel.
Do you offer family or private group sessions?
Yes. GRIT offers family sessions, private groups, private team sessions, and VIP private parties for up to 10 people.
How do I schedule a private session?
Use the Contact and booking page to ask about private availability, or use the studio’s booking flow when directed.
