Which First STEP FIts You?
Start with private foundations when possible
GRIT recommends private coaching as the best first step when you are new to the reformer. A private session gives you space to learn the machine, spring tension, setup, basic cues, alignment, breath, and how GRIT coaches movement before you step into a group setting.
This is the cleaner replacement for the old Reformer 101 path. Reformer 101 is not a regular class gate right now because most people book by the time that works for them. Private foundations give you a more useful introduction without blocking experienced clients from joining the schedule.
Choose a group class if you move well
Some beginners are comfortable starting in a group class, especially if they already train, lift, play sports, take fitness classes, or have reformer experience. Signature GRIT, Dynamic Reformer, Silver and Fit, Jumpboard, and Kettlebell Reformer can all be scaled by pace, cueing, and effort.
A Signature class can still be hard. Newer clients can take breaks and focus on the basics. Experienced clients can make the same work more challenging by slowing down, staying focused, and holding movements longer.
Book personal coaching for more support
Choose private coaching or personal training if you want individual form correction, have specific goals, are coming back after time away, or feel nervous in a group setting. Private, duet, family, and group options are explained on the Private Training & Personal Coaching page.
What to Expect at Reformer Pilates
Your first session should feel focused, coached, and challenging without being confusing. GRIT is not a soft social-hour studio, but beginners are welcome.
Expect:
- A coach-led introduction to the reformer and class flow
- Clear movement cues and form correction
- Core, balance, mobility, strength, and control work
- Low-impact training that can still feel intense
- A studio culture built around effort, not outfits or stereotypes
Wear comfortable workout clothing that lets you move and bring water. Grip socks are not required.
How Booking Works
New visitors can start on this page, use the website contact form, or choose a first session from the booking path. If you are unsure, send GRIT your goals, experience level, and schedule before booking.
Existing members can continue using the Fit by Wix app for scheduling, memberships, purchases, and class updates. New clients do not need to understand the app before they understand the studio.
Your first group class is half off the $40 drop-in rate, making the first-class offer $20. Private foundations, personal training, and duet sessions follow the pricing on Pricing & Packages.
