I highly recommend Grit Pilates! Chris and the Grit crew never cease to challenge our group. Every week we have a newly crafted routine targeting muscles I didn’t event know I had! This is a judgement free studio and welcomes any one of any skill level. Prior to Grit I had never touched a reformer. After over 3 months of consistent Pilates I am seeing results in muscle gain and increased range of motion. Also group classes are wonderful for team building as an added bonus. Check em’ out!

Chris is fantastic! Prior to Grit, I had exclusively done traditional cardio and weight lifting, and thought pilates was a form of exercise purely targeting flexibility. Grit Pilates changed my perception of reformer pilates entirely. It has been a great source of core and stability training, with strength training mixed in as well. I have really enjoyed incorporating it into my weekly split.

I’ve just started Pilates, and it has been a great experience. Chris is an excellent instructor and coach—he clearly demonstrates each movement, provides helpful feedback, and adjusts exercises based on your ability, all while offering constant encouragement. Every class challenges me, and I always leave feeling stronger, energized, and great. I highly recommend it!

I started at Grit about 2 months ago after my gym closed down. This place is great! Challenging and EFFECTIVE! I saw results after 3 weeks.
Chris is a top notch trainer! He pushes his clients to do better and it works.
So glad I found this place. If you are on the fence, just give it a try. You will not be disappointed!

I waited to leave this review after going for a few months to give it my honest review, not just first time impressions. I can attest that if you come to Grit and train with Chris you will see true results. I feel stronger and see incredible changes with my body shape. After having a baby and letting my fitness slide, I finally feel that I am getting it back. Chris will push you because he truly cares. You will get very personalized training here. The studio is a community in itself and I have already made some new friends through this group of hard working people. I am so happy that I discovered pilates at Grit and will keep coming back, since apparently you can do this well into your 80s like Martha Stewart!

Chris is absolutely amazing! This was my first time doing Pilates, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He explains every movement so clearly while still motivating and pushing you to achieve your best. The class was challenging, energizing, and so much fun. I left feeling stronger and excited to come back. Highly recommend!

Chris is awesome! This was my first time doing Pilates, and I didn’t know what to expect, but Chris did a great job explaining each movement while still pushing you. I enjoyed my first session so much that I brought my wife to a class just two days later. I highly recommend Grit Pilates!

My husband and I signed up for ClassPass while we were in Michigan for the holidays. I’ve been trying to get my husband into Pilates, but he always felt a little uncomfortable going into my Pilates studio back home. When we walked into the studio, I could tell he was at ease And didn’t seem too intimidated. The class was one of the most intense Pilates classes I’ve ever taken, but I was so happy and felt so amazing afterwards. Chris is an excellent instructor and I can tell that he really cares about his studio and clients. If you’re looking for a class to help you with your core and stability this is the place for you.

What Review Themes Say About GRIT

GRIT uses real client feedback across the site to show what the studio feels like before someone walks in. The strongest themes are clear: GRIT is not a soft, generic studio. Clients come for coaching, form correction, strength, mobility, balance, and workouts that feel purposeful.

People reading Pilates reviews Grand Rapids are usually asking:

  • Will I feel welcome if I am new?
  • Will the coach help me use the reformer correctly?
  • Is the workout hard enough to matter?
  • Is this only for women, or do men train here too?
  • Can seniors, athletes, students, and private clients get the right level of coaching?

GRIT’s answer is direct: Pilates is for every body, but the work is real.

Results People Come Here For

GRIT is a strength-first, coach-led studio for people who want attentive form correction and purposeful training. That matters because many prospects are not just shopping for a pretty studio. They want a place where someone notices form, explains the movement, and helps them train with intent.

Beginner Pilates reviews

First-time clients often need reassurance before stepping onto a reformer. GRIT now routes beginners through the Start Here path and private foundations when possible, instead of relying on Reformer 101 as the regular entry point. If you are nervous about the machine, the pace, or whether you will know what to do, review the Start Here guide and ask which first session fits.

Men's Pilates reviews

GRIT keeps men’s reformer training as a real differentiator. The studio challenges the idea that Pilates is only stretching or only for women. Men’s GRIT Reformer and GRIT’s broader strength-first method connect reformer work to core stability, mobility, muscle engagement, athletic performance, and functional movement. Men who lift, play sports, or want better mobility can explore the full reformer class lineup.

Private Pilates results

Private coaching, duet privates, personal training, family sessions, and VIP private parties are designed for people who need more individual attention. These sessions are a strong fit when you want deeper form correction, goal-setting, privacy, or a coach-led plan that fits your body and experience level. Athlete Pilates results

GRIT has a clear athlete lane. Services include Explosive Edge, private team sessions, pad training by appointment, kettlebell work, jumpboard speed drills, and reformer work for core strength, agility, balance, power, rotation, and movement quality. Athletes, teams, golfers, pickleball players, field-sport athletes, swimmers, and fighters can review athlete and team training for the best fit.

Silver and Fit reviews

Silver and Fit is built for active seniors who want strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and a stronger mind-body connection. The tone is supportive but not watered down. Silver and Fit offers a supportive, challenging environment where active seniors can build strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and mind-body connection.
